Can Having Gingivitis Cause Erectile Dysfunction??

can gingivitis cause ED1 e1461118892173 Can Having Gingivitis Cause Erectile Dysfunction??Do you brush and floss every day? Do you get your dental cleanings every 6 months?

Would you like harder erections? (“huh?”)

Well, if you have weaker erections than you’d like, a new study says it may be caused by poor dental hygiene… or more specifically, chronic periodontal (CP) disease, which includes advanced gingivitis and other “dental diseases”.

In a study published in Uro Today, the Department of General Dentistry reviewed 9 different studies published over the years (the number of study participants ranged between 53 and 513,258 individuals, with an age range between 20 years and 85 years), and there seems to be an association between gum disease and erectile dysfunction…

So Why Does Gum Disease and Gingivitis Supposedly Keep You From Getting Harder Erections??

Well, the folks who performed the review hypothesize that chronic periodontitis can trigger both local (in the mouth) and systematic (throughout your entire “system”, or body) inflammatory responses, which will lead to poor vascular function, and one of its offshoots, erectile dysfunction.

There are various reasons they believe this happens, one of them being that low vitamin D levels are found in both erectile dysfunction and periodontal disease.

(Interesting, unrelated note: the report mentions projections showing that ED will affect more than 300 million men worldwide by 2025… why / how do they project that this number will increase?… Cell phone use???… maybe a proportionate increase along with population growth?)

Not a Strong Enough Link in My Opinion – BUT STILL… FLOSS!

can gingivitis cause erectile dysfunction e1461117708701 Can Having Gingivitis Cause Erectile Dysfunction??The report then mentions several holes in the studies, which were things that automatically jumped out at me.

60% of the studies remained unadjusted for smoking and/or alcohol consumption, and 20% of the studies didn’t look into heart disease or diabetes in the subjects…

Which goes on to my thoughts… which are much simpler than the hypothesis of gingivitis causing erectile dysfunction:

1) Periodontal disease, especially CHRONIC periodontal disease, is generally caused by poor dental hygiene.

2) Poor dental hygiene is often found in people who don’t take care of themselves physically, as well as in people who overdo destructive habits, such as smoking and excessive drinking.

3) People who don’t take care of themselves physically have bodies that slowly deteriorate… including their teeth, vascular systems… and therefore penises and erections.

Not all that complicated.

Yes… brush your teeth, floss, use mouthwash and visit your dentist regularly… but to keep your teeth clean, avoid gingivitis, and to maintain fresh breath! Not to keep from getting erectile dysfunction!

But if you’d like harder erections, there are other things you can do.

How to Get Harder Erections Naturally… Other Than Obsessively Flossing;)

As you can probably tell from what I wrote above, I’m a strong believer in a link between our physical state, and the quality of our erections.

You can be a bit overweight. It’s okay.

You can have diabetes… it’s alright!

You can eat some fast food… just do everything in moderation!

But most importantly, keep your body in motion, and with healthy food and fluids going through it!  Eating crappy, nutrient-less food, gaining excessive weight, and not moving (being sedentary for long periods of time) will keep your testosterone production low, and circulation in bad shape…

Eating a healthy amount of protein, carbs, fats, fruits and vegetables, along with keeping your body in motion, getting sleep and drinking plenty of water? That will help to get that blood flowing, your stress levels low (which will keep your cortisol — aka the testosterone killer — in check), as well as allow you to maintain harder erections for longer periods of time!

There are also several things you can do to naturally improve your erection quality. Exercises to increase the internal muscles related to your erection (concentrated/advanced pc strengthening exercises), manual techniques to improve the circulation throughout your penis, and various ways to naturally optimize your testosterone production…

Have a good one!
