Low Serotonin Levels can cause Premature Ejaculation

Serotonin is a chemical produced in your brain, responsible for making you feel comfortable, at peace, and happy.  Lack of serotonin can cause depression, excessive worry, obsessive thinking, lack of interest in things you usually enjoy, lack of sex drive/libido, difficulty sleeping, irritability…and now it appears that lack of serotonin can cause premature ejaculation.

Not sure how it works…most likely low levels of serotonin cause anxiety, worry and obsession, which is a toxic combination for anybody trying to gain ejaculation control.  If you want to learn how to last longer during sex, it might be a good idea to try and observe your level of happiness, worry, etc.

There are a number of natural things you can do to increase serotonin levels, which in turn may help you to last longer during sex.  Some exposure to sunlight, some exercise (weight training and cardio), stress reduction, and sufficient sleep are all ways to naturally improve your serotonin production.

If your stress levels are high for an extended period of time, this will cause an increase in cortisol, the stress hotmone, which in turn will cause a drastic reduction in serotonin, as well as testosterone levels.  This can lead to premature ejaculation, as well as erectile dysfunction issues.

Another natural way to increase serotonin levels are to eat foods high in tryptophan, the precursor to serotonin.  High protein foods such as chicken and turkey, as well as bananas, have good amounts of tryptophan.  Tryptophan can also be purchased in pill form, and I believe its called 5-HTP.

A good indicator that low serotonin levels can cause premature ejaculation is that when a person is on SSRI’s, the latest class of antidepressants that work by maximizing the amount of serotonin in circulation in your brain, delayed ejaculation is usually a side effect.

Before you go off to the doctor to get a prescription for antidepressants, bear in mind that while they may allow you to last longer during sex, common side effects include lack of sex drive, as well as impotence.

In my case, I just practice natural things to increase my serotonin levels, as well as performing ejaculation control exercises on a regular basis.  I’ve learned a number of exercises to improve mental ejaculation control, as well as techniques to take control of the physical part.

After performing my ejaculation control exercises, I’ve been able to last much longer than I did when I was younger.  I went from ejaculating within a minute or so, to being able to perform for 30-45 minutes of non-stop penetration, which for me was a huge advancement.
