For years I thought the production of serotonin and other neurotransmitters was a process completely isolated to the brain&#8230; but your stomach plays a <em>massive<\/em> role in the process.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2017\/05\/170523124119.htm\">Studies<\/a> have actually shown that probiotic use may help alleviate depression!<\/p>\n<p>Your stomach plays a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopkinsmedicine.org\/research\/advancements-in-research\/fundamentals\/in-depth\/the-gut-where-bacteria-and-immune-system-meet\">critical role in your immune system function<\/a> as well, with a large part of the body&#8217;s defense against foreign microscopic invaders taking place in your GI tract&#8230; &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.harvard.edu\/blog\/putting-a-stop-to-leaky-gut-2018111815289\">leaky gut syndrome<\/a>&#8220;, once commonly thought to be naturalistic mumbo jumbo, appears to indeed be an actual phenomenon, as science is showing&#8230;\u00a0The gut, when &#8220;leaky&#8221;, causes impermeable surfaces to become permeable, allowing bacteria and viruses to enter into the bloodstream with weakened defenses&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Probiotics have been found to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5995450\/\">improve immune system function<\/a> in studies&#8230; as well as provide other big benefits to us as men.<\/p>\n<h2>Probiotics Boost Testosterone Levels in Men (And Mice)<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Benefits-of-Testosterone.png\"><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12518\" title=\"benefits of testosterone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Benefits-of-Testosterone-e1567459915876.png\" alt=\"testosterone benefits for men\" width=\"646\" height=\"433\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Benefits-of-Testosterone-e1567459915876.png 536w, https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Benefits-of-Testosterone-e1567459915876-300x201.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 646px) 100vw, 646px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3879365\/\">first study<\/a> carried out measuring how probiotics affect testosterone production was carried out on mice.<\/p>\n<p>Aging mice were split into two groups, with one group given the probiotic strain\u00a0<em>Lactobacillus reuteri<\/em>\u00a0in their drinking water and the other just regular drinking water.<\/p>\n<p>The group ingesting the probiotic culture had larger testicles, higher testosterone levels and improved sperm quality compared to their age-matched controls.<\/p>\n<p>In a later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/28245352\">study<\/a>, carried out on humans, men given Flortec (a probiotic\u00a0<em>Lactobacillus paracasei <\/em>with\u00a0prebiotic) increased their sperm count and quality, and improved testosterone production without raising estrogen levels.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to advice for boosting testosterone production, you always get the same \u2014 lift weights, sleep well, increase vitamin D, eat red meat, eggs, spinach,\u00a0 etc&#8230; but rarely do they ever say to take a probiotic supplement&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>As a man, you should strongly consider adding a probiotic supplement to your daily vitamin \/ health routine.<\/p>\n<h2>Probiotics For Testosterone &#8211; Which Probiotic Brands Contain the Cultures Found to Increase Testosterone Levels?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/probiotics-for-testosterone.jpg\"><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12667 size-full\" title=\"probiotics for testosterone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/probiotics-for-testosterone.jpg\" alt=\"probiotics for testosterone production\" width=\"532\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/probiotics-for-testosterone.jpg 532w, https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/probiotics-for-testosterone-300x173.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 532px) 100vw, 532px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For my own research purposes, I investigated which probiotic brand \/ company contained the specific cultures mentioned in the above studies. I get the feeling, however, that many of these related strains would work, as in the two above-mentioned studies, different types of <em>Lactobacillus<\/em>\u00a0showed a strong positive testicular and hormonal influence.<\/p>\n<p>In the end I found two brands that were not only among several &#8220;top probiotic review&#8221; lists, but also contained the two strains mentioned above, among strains found to have positive effects on immune system function, which is a plus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The two I found among the top lists that contained all the cultures I was looking for were:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Hyperbiotics PRO-15 Probiotics<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Vitamin Bounty Pro 50 Probiotic with Prebiotics<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Hyperbiotics brand was not only found higher in ranking (not by much, just a bit), but additionally contained the particular culture found in the impressive study on rats&#8230; Also, its recommended dosage was one capsule as opposed to two, with the same quantity of capsules, so will last me twice as long.<\/p>\n<p>Both are available on Amazon.<\/p>\n<h2>How Healing Your Leaky Gut Improves Testosterone Production &#8211; Along with Immune System<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/leaky-gut-leads-to-low-testosterone.png\"><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12522 \" title=\"leaky gut low testosterone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/leaky-gut-leads-to-low-testosterone-e1567458525248.png\" alt=\"leaky gut and testosterone levels in men\" width=\"716\" height=\"443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/leaky-gut-leads-to-low-testosterone-e1567458525248.png 790w, https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/leaky-gut-leads-to-low-testosterone-e1567458525248-300x186.png 300w, https:\/\/www.mistermanpower.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/leaky-gut-leads-to-low-testosterone-e1567458525248-768x475.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 716px) 100vw, 716px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWhen the mucosal barrier of the stomach breaks down, this can allow intestinal bacteria (endotoxins) and other unfriendly elements to enter into your circulation, leading to inflammation. This inflammation caused by the\u00a0exposure to endotoxins <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/29183872\">is tied to lower testosterone levels<\/a>. This inflammation also hoards immune system resources which should be used for fighting off viruses, bacteria and other foreign bodies.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.harvard.edu\/blog\/author\/mcampos\">Marcelo Campos, MD<\/a>\u00a0of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates and lecturer at Harvard Medical School:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;Modern life may actually be the main driver of gut inflammation. There is emerging evidence that the standard American diet, which is low in fiber and high in sugar and saturated fats, may initiate this process.
